Klaus nodded in agreement with Derek, though his lazy gaze was watching the way Hayley leaned against him, assessing. "Magic's a tricky thing, especially when you tap into blood magic and the darker sides of it." He shrugged slightly. "Sacrifices carry enormous power."

Elijah snorted, giving Klaus a look. "As we would know."

Hayley's gaze dropped, away from Klaus's, before she took a sip of her juice. Sacrifices...really weren't something she wanted to talk about.

With Lydia's help, Peter managed to get in the shirt without too much trouble, and gave her a small smile once she had it buttoned. "Thank you..." Standing, he offered her his right hand. "You want to go down, too?"
