It wasn't that Peter wanted to leave Scott behind, by any means, but he'd rushed back in there and the Alpha twins--who'd flipped sides just like he'd said they would--were right behind them and Cora had already stopped breathing once. So, he snarled at Isaac who could see the twins behind them and knew, if nothing else, he had a duty to his pack--of which Peter and Cora were a major part.
He floored it.
The epinephrine had burned off a little too fast, which had been embarrassing, but the adrenaline was still pumping--possibly the only thing keeping him upright, honestly. That and needing to take care of his pack...Cora hadn't regained consciousness, and he could only hope someone had found Derek.
Isaac didn't know where Scott was, didn't know if he'd gotten out, and he was shaking, but he got them back to the loft safely. Sure, the pack knew where it was, but they knew where all of them lived and where else were they going to go? Better somewhere they could sort of defend. They didn't have Ms. Blake, anyway, so why would they come after them?
When they got to the loft, Peter got Cora out of the car, lifting her with a pained wince, but when Isaac tried to take her, he snarled at the boy until he ran ahead, getting doors instead, letting them all into the loft and skidding to a bit of a halt at finding Lydia and Hayley sitting there.
Peter noticed the girls, but didn't process, moving across to get Cora on the table, somewhere they could work on her more easily than the sofa. After he got her there, he just leaned against it, head hanging down, breathing a little too hard.

"I can walk." Cora muttered irritably but she did look at Hayley, waiting as she slid her feet to the floor.
Lydia ignored the muttering as she turned to look at Peter. "I've made up the guest bed." She held out her hand to him. "Come on, you can tell me this plan you had." See? She didn't forget.
no subject
Hayley looked vaguely amused at Lydia taking control, but there wasn't any reason to not do as she asked, so she just shrugged and gave Cora a smile. "Good, because I'm not carrying you and I'm pretty sure Peter can't anymore..."
"Hey!"
She glanced at him, head tilted. "You're heartbeat is thready and weak and far too fast and you're breathing shallowly and with clear pain. I know you're strong, but you're hurt, too."
She moved to Cora, holding out her hand. "I'll just stay close in case you need help with the stairs, ok?"
Peter still looked affronted, but he struggled to his feet with a wince, and took Lydia's hand. He gave her a look at the mention of the plan, but sighed. "Fine."
no subject
Leading Peter to the room, she fretted quietly about what Hayley had said about his pulse and such, and she was whiter than before as she turned to look at him. "What happened?"
Cora was quiet as Hayley moved behind her while she climbed the stairs. "So, Klaus? That's the father?"
no subject
Peter waved a hand, trying to dismiss her concern, but answered. "It's really not anything to worry about. Scott and I had to take on the twins while the others tried to get the darach and Cora out to safety. They'd already tossed me through a sort or two, and I needed an advantage. There was an impressive shot of epinephrine in the OR. It seemed a good idea at the time, but now...coming down is a little less fun."
Yes. He'd gotten high on adrenaline. He'd had to so something?
"It's possible I cracked a rib or four, in the midst of being thrown down hallways." He looked up at her.
Hayley sighed and gave a shrug. "That's him. He's not normally...no. I can't even lie. He's often an ass, but rarely so...pointedly." As in, over her.
no subject
"Are they healing?" She asked with a frown then.
Cora paused. studying Hayley for a moment as she stated that Klaus was not nearly such an asshole and it looked like she was contemplating saying something before she decided against it by turning to walk to her room.
"At least his brother seems...easier to be around." She replied casually.
no subject
He shrugged slightly. "They will. Cracks actually take longer than full breaks--not traumatic enough to trigger the full healing process." He tugged lightly. "You're the one with a concussion." Though she seemed to be thinking and moving more clearly and easily, at least, so hopefully that was resolving itself.
Hayley followed her to the doorway of her room, leaning in the door. "Elijah? Yeah, Elijah's great. Easily the best of the family."
no subject
Cora nodded her head as she moved into her room and over to her bed. Then she sat down with a sigh, hating that she had to wait behind while everyone went off to face the dark druid bitch.
no subject
Hayley worried at her lower lip, watching Cora, trying not to worry about Derek and the others out there fighting. "You need anything?"
no subject
"No, I feel....fine." Truthfully she wasn't sure how she felt since she felt okay but it was strange to think she had vampire blood in her system. Brushing some hair back from her face, she looked up at Hayley again. "How are you dealing?"
no subject
He hated showing that much weakness, but...he really didn't think he could manage.
Hayley shrugged a bit again. "I'm ok. Worried about Derek, and I hope they get everyone back safe, but...I've never met them, you know? I want them to be safe because they're people who have people who love them, and those people matter to you guys, and you guys...matter to me." Her smile is wry. "So, I'm probably more ok than most, being removed from it a bit." She shook her head. "Elijah and Klaus will be fine."
no subject
Yes, she knew he was going to hate that.
"I don't know them either." Cora replied with a shake of her head, wondering if she should feel bad about that but then she shrugged. "But I do know Scott and Stiles, and they've tried to help me a few times." She had to admit that much. "And I know what it's like to have your family taken from you and I don't want that for them."
She wasn't sure how much Hayley knew about what happened to the Hales.
no subject
Peter mustered up an offended look. "I like this shirt." With an expectant look, he raised his right arm to go with his plan.
Hayley nodded, her gaze dropping and a faint frown forming. She knew some of what had happened, but it wasn't like it was Derek's favorite topic. However, she definitely knew what it was like to lose your family. "Yeah, no. I wouldn't wish that on anyone," she murmured.
no subject
Cora looked away to the window, hearing Hayley's response as she nodded. "Neither would I." So she was hoping, for the boys' sake, that they got the parents out before they died for a cause that wasn't their own.

He still winced a couple of times, then glanced down with a grimace at his left side with was an appalling shade of black and blue. "...well, that explains that..." He still wasn't worried, it would heal, but he didn't like the look of it.
There wasn't a whole lot else to say, and Hayley wasn't sure she should even try. But she didn't really want to leave the girl and both of them wait alone.
"So...why is Peter so much more hurt? I didn't see any significant gashes..." She kept her voice low, but she really was curious.
no subject
Cora looked up at the question as if surprised though why would she? It wasn't like they talked about what had happened. "It's because he hasn't fully recovered from being dead." She murmured, keeping her voice soft as well.
no subject
"I think it's just trying to deal with the adrenaline crash first," he tried to reassure her, though, really...it was the first time he'd been hurt since coming back. Maybe he didn't heal as easily anymore.
That was a disturbing thought.
Hayley blinked and stared. "...Oh. That's,..a neat trick?"
no subject
Cora looked briefly amused by Hayley's reaction. "Yeah. From my understanding, Derek killed him and buried him but somehow Peter used Lydia who then used Derek to bring him back."
no subject
"I'm pretty sure based on that glorious color spectrum, something's bleeding," Peter said dryly. "But it will heal."
It had to.
Part of Hayley wanted to ask why Derek had killed a family member, but she bit that back, not sure she wanted to know. So, she went with the Lydua angle. "She does seem...pretty devoted to him, I guess..."
no subject
Cora nodded, still watching. "Mates usually are."
no subject
One eyebrow arched, but Hayley just nodded a little, remembering Peter and Derek's conversation when they'd discovered Lydia there. "I've heard that. I guess I'm just not used to seeing it."
no subject
"I did, a long time ago." Cora muttered softly.
no subject
Hayley frowned a bit, glancing down, then back at the girl. "Your family...?"
no subject
Cora paused, tilting her head. "How much has Derek told you about our family?"
no subject
Even death wouldn't stop that, but he didn't say that right now.
Hayley shook her head a little. "Not a whole lot. That there was a fire and that they died."
no subject
"It was hunters." Cora replied evenly though it was an effort. "They set fire to our house with everyone trapped inside, adults and children. Peter, Derek and our sister Laura escaped." Clearly she had too.
